Are you an experienced accountant who wants to take real ownership of a local accounting scope while working within an international group?

Newpharma is looking for a Senior Accountant to manage the full accounting cycle of two Romanian legal entities and act as the key link between our Romanian organisation and the Finance team based at our Belgian headquarters.

This is not a purely transactional accounting position. We are looking for someone who can combine reliable execution with autonomy, analysis, sound judgement and a genuine drive to improve processes.

Your role

You will take end-to-end responsibility for the accounting activities of our Romanian entities, including:

·         Managing day-to-day bookkeeping and ensuring complete, accurate and properly supported accounting records

·         Performing monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities

·         Preparing the monthly Group reporting package independently for review by the Accounting Manager in Belgium

·         Analysing accounting and reporting variances and formulating clear recommendations

·         Providing limited support for budgeting, forecasting and related variance analysis

·         Progressively assuming responsibility for all applicable Romanian tax and statutory declarations, including VAT, corporate income tax, SAF-T, Intrastat and statistical returns

·         Managing payments, cash positions, cash-flow forecasts and banking relationships

·         Handling the limited fixed-asset accounting scope and monitoring depreciation

·         Preparing statutory financial statements and supporting audits and tax controls

·         Identifying accounting risks, control weaknesses and opportunities for improvement

An important role in our Odoo implementation

Our Odoo ERP implementation is already at an advanced stage. You will play a concrete role in bringing it to completion by:

·         Validating the accounting data migration

·         Comparing and validating historical balances

·         Finalising the accounting entries for previous months

·         Becoming the local accounting reference person for Odoo after implementation

What we are looking for

·         A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field

·         At least five years of experience in a similar senior accounting position

·         Solid experience with the full accounting cycle, closing, statutory financial statements and tax reporting

·         Strong knowledge of Romanian accounting and tax legislation

·         Previous experience within an international group

·         Experience with ERP systems; Odoo experience is a strong advantage

·         Advanced Excel skills

·         Fluent spoken and written English, as English will be used daily

·         A Romanian professional accounting certification, such as CECCAR or an equivalent qualification, is an advantage

You are accurate, analytical and comfortable working independently. You do not simply identify issues: you assess their impact, propose practical solutions and know when a sensitive or high-risk matter must be escalated.
